To drop a devil fruit in Grand Piece Online on PC, equip the fruit so it’s in your hand, then press Backspace. It lands on the ground in front of you and anyone nearby can pick it up. If you want to hand a valuable fruit to one specific person, trading it in the Trading Hub is safer than dropping it.

The Backspace answers are from 2021, but dropping clearly still works. Threads from January, April and September 2026 describe players dropping fruits for strangers and leaving fruits lying around busy fishing spots and the Trade Hub (example).
On mobile, nobody we found explains a drop button. The only two threads that ask about it are from 2022 and 2023, and the replies just say “don’t think you can”. The official game page lists controller, PC and mobile support, but no source explains dropping with a controller either. If you play on a phone or console, trading (below) is the documented way to move a fruit to another player.
Note: A community reply from 2022 says Backspace only works on fruits, not on weapons or accessories like the compass or eyepatch. Only one thread says this, so treat it as unconfirmed. Those items can still be traded.
How to drop a stored fruit
If you own a Fruit Bag, holding a fruit shows a Store Fruit button. Pressing it moves the fruit into your inventory like a normal item (Fandom). A regular bag holds one copy of each fruit type, and the Prestige Fruit Bag lets you keep a second copy.
Backspace only works on a fruit you’re holding. No source we found explains how to take a stored fruit back out of the inventory so you can drop it, so that step is unconfirmed. Trading doesn’t need it: the fan wiki says fruits are stored automatically when you trade.

The fruit isn’t in your hand
Backspace drops the tool you’re holding. Equip the fruit first, and make sure you’re not holding a sword, gun or accessory instead.

The fruit already disappeared
An unstored fruit in your backpack is lost when you leave the game or disconnect. A GPO subreddit moderator warned about this, and players in the same thread still report it years later. Store the fruit or hand it over before you log off.
How to give a fruit to a friend or crewmate
There is no crew-only gift button. You have two options:
- Drop it next to them. Stand close, hold the fruit, press Backspace, and let them grab it fast. This is quick for crewmates but risky in a full server, because anyone can take it.
- Trade it. In the Trading Hub, press the Trade button, pick the player, add the fruit, and both accept. A 10-second countdown runs before the swap completes (Fandom: Trading). Fruits have no trade level requirement, so this works even for new accounts.
If your friend already ate a fruit, they need a Dark Root to remove it before they can eat the new one (Fandom: Devil Fruits).
Note: “Drop your fruit and I’ll give you a better one” is a known trick. In a September 2026 thread, a new player dropped a Buddha fruit on request and the other player simply kept it. Never drop a fruit you want to keep.
Do dropped fruits despawn?
No source gives a timer for player-dropped fruits. The fan wiki only says that naturally spawned fruits under trees despawn after 1 hour. Assume a dropped fruit can vanish, or be picked up by someone else, at any moment.
