To drop a fruit in Blox Fruits, equip the physical fruit from your hotbar and use it as if you were going to eat it; a prompt pops up with Eat and Drop, and choosing Drop puts the fruit on the ground. This only works for fruits you have never stored: once a fruit has gone into your inventory storage, Blox Fruits will not let you drop it again.
How to drop a fruit on PC, mobile and console
The drop itself happens in the same Eat/Drop prompt on every device. What changes is how you open it, and that the old keyboard shortcut no longer exists.
| Platform | How to drop | Status |
|---|---|---|
| PC (keyboard and mouse) | Equip the fruit, click to use it, then click Drop in the prompt | Confirmed |
| Mobile | Tap the equipped fruit, then tap Drop (not Eat) | Confirmed |
| Xbox / PS5 | Try to eat the fruit and pick Drop in the prompt | Unconfirmed for current controls |
PC: players used to drop a held fruit instantly with Backspace. The Update 27 patch notes (August 23, 2025) list “removed the ability to drop physical fruits with backspace”, and an r/bloxfruits thread from five days later complains about exactly that. One reply in that thread says Backspace now just opens the Eat/Drop menu, but no second source confirms this. Older tutorials and Reddit answers from 2022–2024 that tell you to press Backspace are out of date.
Mobile: tap the fruit and the two options appear. The Drop button sits right next to Eat, so tap carefully. Eating a fruit replaces the one you already have, and players in the 2025 thread report losing a Kitsune that way.
Console: the only controller-specific answer we found is a 2021 Reddit reply for Xbox: try to eat the fruit and you get Eat / Drop / Nevermind. The Update 27 notes say inventory console controls were improved afterwards, but nobody documents which button drops a fruit on PS5 or Xbox today. The prompt method is the safest bet.
Note: You may see a
/dropfruitchat command mentioned in a 2023 Reddit post. It isn’t on the wiki’s commands list and we couldn’t verify that it works, so don’t count on it.
Is there a quick drop in Blox Fruits?
Not anymore. Backspace was the quick drop until Update 27 took it out, and no other one-key shortcut is documented. To get rid of a fruit fast, open the prompt and press Drop, or read the stored-fruit section below.
How to drop a fruit after storing it
You can’t. The Blox Fruits wiki states that a stored fruit can’t be dropped. It can only leave your inventory by being traded, eaten, or lost when you’re killed while holding it. Two older video guides say the same thing about un-stored fruits.
You can still take it out of storage:
- Open the Inventory from the in-game menu and go to the fruits section (Treasure → Fruits).
- Select the fruit and press Unstore. It moves to your backpack and hotbar.
At that point the Drop option still won’t work for that fruit. If you just want it gone, resetting your character deletes an un-stored fruit you’re holding, and so does dying with it. The fruit vanishes instead of going to the player who killed you. The one exception is Plastic Fruits from the 2026 April Fools event, which can be dropped even after storing.
Note: If you plan to give a fruit away, don’t store it first. Decide before you press Store.
Why can’t I drop my fruit?
You stored it earlier
A fruit that has been in storage at any point is no longer droppable. Use trading instead.
You’re pressing Backspace
That shortcut was removed in August 2025. Use the Drop button in the prompt.
It isn’t in your hotbar
The prompt only appears for a physical fruit you’re holding. A fruit you’ve already eaten isn’t an item anymore, so there’s nothing to drop.
Do dropped fruits despawn in Blox Fruits?
The official game description says fruits that spawn naturally under trees appear every hour and despawn after 20 minutes. Dropped fruits are less clear: the wiki says they don’t despawn, but a 2021 Reddit answer says they disappear after a while. Pick a dropped fruit up quickly, and don’t leave the server with an un-stored fruit, because it disappears when you leave.
How to give a fruit to a friend
The simplest way is to stand next to your friend, drop the fruit, and let them grab it. Anyone nearby can see a dropped fruit, so do it somewhere quiet. For valuable fruits, use the official trading tables at the Café (Second Sea) or the Mansion (Third Sea). Trades use stored fruits, allow up to four items each, and have a limit on how many you can do per period. Be wary of strangers who ask you to “drop it first”, because a dropped fruit can’t be taken back.

FAQ
Can you drop a fruit in Blox Fruits if you already stored it?
No. Storing a fruit permanently blocks dropping it (Plastic Fruits are the only exception). You can unstore it and eat it, trade it, or lose it by resetting.
Why doesn’t backspace drop my fruit in Blox Fruits anymore?
Update 27 in August 2025 removed Backspace as the drop key. On PC you now have to click Drop in the Eat/Drop prompt.
How do I drop a fruit in Blox Fruits on PS5 or Xbox?
Try to eat the fruit and pick Drop from the prompt that appears. This comes from an older Xbox report; the exact current controller button isn’t documented.
Will my fruit disappear if I leave the game without storing it?
Yes. A physical fruit you haven’t stored is lost when you leave or disconnect, so store it or drop it for someone before you log off.
